Welcome to United Communities
We support schools to be good neighbours and active contributors to strong, connected communities. We do this by developing community hubs: welcoming spaces where local people come together to build on the strengths already present in their neighbourhoods.
We are building a growing network of school‑linked community hubs, each shaped by its local context and rooted in relationships. These hubs offer a range of opportunities, from youth centres and shared spaces for residents to connect, to community allotments and access to school facilities beyond the school day. From community pantries and toddler groups to youth‑led social action, every initiative is developed with, and led by, local people.
We are an independent charity, established in 2025 by United Learning, a group of over 100 schools across England, to deepen and expand community development work that began in 2022.
We work alongside schools as part of their wider community, helping them listen well, build meaningful relationships and contribute to locally-led action.
We offer a three-year community development programme, run a national network of school-linked community hubs, and invest in the ideas and skills of local people - including children, young people and adults, through a microgrant fund.
This timeline shows how our network has grown so far.
